even in the most bitter periods of my imprisonment
I don’t write this letter to put bitterness into your heart but to pluck it out of mine.
I am quite candid when I tell you that rather than go out from this prison with bitterness in my heart against you or against the world I would gladly and readily beg my bread from door to door.
Humanity, which is the spirit of Love, the spirit of the Christ who is not in Churches, may make it, if not right, at least possible to be borne without too much bitterness of heart.
My own griefs and bitterness against you I forgot.
And the first thing that I have got to do is to free myself from any possible bitterness of feeling against you.
My words may perhaps be often too bitter to you.
さては、I don’t write this letter to put bitterness into your heart
